Matt was raised in a pastor’s home and graduated from Northland International University with a BA in 1998. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002 and his Doctor of Ministry from Northland International University in 2010. During his seminary years, he served as the assistant pastor at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church in Chisago City, Minnesota, where he then became their senior pastor. He served there until May 2008, when he was called to Fourth Baptist Church and Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Minnesota.
Matt has preached in many churches, camps, and colleges across the U.S. and around the world, visiting missionaries in 22 countries.
Matt enjoys golf, alpine skiing, water skiing, and spending time with his family.
Matt and his wife, Kim, have five children, two of which are BJU grads (Micah & Lydia) and one of which is currently a Junior (Anna).
